Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you...MLS's Favorite Deviations.
(who knows, maybe I'll make this a habit!)

Our first gallery stop belongs to
A 23-year-old experimental photographer from the US, her interests include her son, art, reading, music, writing, Warcraft, and macramé. With a gallery of over 200 deviations, it's hard to choose just one. Her style is varied, ranging between self-portraits, spontaneous portraits of her son and images of nature.
I've chosen Sunglow [ [link] ] because of the sheer brilliance of the shot. The way the sun lights up the petals without washing out the color is perfect, and the detail in the flowers themselves is crystal clear. This looks like it should be on everybody's desktop.

Next stop, we have
I've been watching this deviant for a while, and I must say her work keeps getting better an better. From photojournalistic portraits of her friends to fantastic nature shots, this girl knows her way around a camera. Hailing from Minneapolis, MN, this young photographer and artist enjoys foreign languages, photography, sociology, city life, Japanese and French cultures, sci-fi and travel. (boy, I'm starting to feel like the announcer guy on 'The Dating Game' )
My choice from her gallery isn't exactly a straight photographic image, but instead is a manipulation of a much older photo taken in the early-1940s by John Vanchon: Waiting With Me [ [link] ] . One of a number of images manipulated for a class project, rain-endless has practically seamlessly photoshopped herself in so that she's one of the people sitting on the bench. The tone, lighting and shadow are so perfect that if you didn't know better you'd say she was doing her best to keep boredom at bay and hasn't gotten a day older since.

Third in our Tour de DeviantART is
A self-proclaimed 'Old Fart' at the age of 14, out of Plano, TX, he enjoys music (listening, not playing!), art, tennis and psychology. Unlike most of the other artists featured in this journal, White Wizard is a painter (gasp! I like something other than photography!) with definite talent. There's not a lot in his gallery, but that doesn't define the quality of his work by any means.
I've chosen Sfumato Apple [ [link] ] because I feel it best represents the progress he's made as compared to his first entry. In his own words, 'Leonardo da Vinci described sfumato as "without lines or borders, in the manner of smoke or beyond the focus plane". Sfumato basically means that there are no harsh lines or color contrasts. I did a sfumato apple. I tried to blend and eliminate much contrast, but just how much can you eliminate from a BRIGHT RED apple? Oh well. I tried.'
That you did, successfully!

Just A Dream [ [link] ] is a fantastic photomanipulation, using stock images from all over the place to create something incredible. While not being the originator of each individual piece, Tea-Pot has puzzled them together to create something surreal enough to exist only in our mind's eye, yet tangible enough that it has to be sitting right there in front of us.

Well, this ends our mini trip around the world of dA. Congrats to each of the artists featured; I hope you will all stop by, check out their galleries and see for yourself exactly what impresses me most. Maybe you'll find something you'll like, too.
Don't forget: do unto others! If you wanted to get featured, give others the chance for you to do the same.
